Tango, Lingerie and Geomorphology book cover

Welcome to Tangopoetry.net

To describe tango, the emotional connection, the improvised movement, is a challenge that blogs, on-line dialogues and youtube links have tried to address. I have chosen to contribute to this lively discussion through the fluid language of poetry — a language which can be open and adaptive to the reader’s experience and wonder. This book is not an attempt to convince you to dance, to seduce you to tango or to argue that tango can be expansive; dancers and musicians have been doing just that for over a hundred years; they do not need my assistance. But this slim collection does provide a variety of brief, subtle tastes of the tango experience both for the uninitiated, and for those that have already immersed themselves into that South American river that flows throughout the world.

Tango is not separate from life’s other obsessions: desire, exploration and relationships. This slight volume with its four chapters or “tandas” can be read in sequence. These poems are transparently linked by the most delicate of narrative threads, woven over a ten year span.

Enjoy, dance and create your own poetry,
